Listagrow can structure a Shopify product description as one continuous block, sections for a third-party tab app, or native theme accordions. Choose the mode that matches how your product page already displays descriptions before you generate or apply content.

Choosing the wrong mode does not change your theme by itself. It can make the sections appear as ordinary headings, fail to appear in a tab app, or leave Theme Tabs without the one-time theme setup they require.

Choose the display mode that matches your store

Open the description settings in Brand & Settings in the embedded Shopify app, or Brand & Content in the SaaS app with your Shopify store selected. Under How Your Store Shows Descriptions, choose one mode:

ModeChoose it whenWhat Listagrow prepares
One BlockYour product page shows one regular description area. This is the right choice for most stores. One normal Shopify description with the sections you selected.
Tab AppYou use a third-party product-tab app, such as Easy Tabs, that turns description headings into tabs.A normal Shopify description with H2 section headings for the tab app to split.
Theme TabsYou want accordions rendered by your Shopify theme without a separate tab app.The intro stays in the normal description; each H2 section is stored in Shopify and rendered by the Listagrow Custom Liquid block.

Select Save after changing the mode. When you select Tab App or Theme Tabs, Listagrow uses H2 headings for description sections because both modes depend on those headings.

Set up a third-party Tab App

Choose Tab App only when a Shopify app already turns product-description headings into tabs or panels.

After saving the Listagrow setting:

  1. Open the settings for your tab app.
  2. Confirm that it splits product descriptions on H2 headings.
  3. Select the description sections you want Listagrow to create.
  4. Generate or enrich a test product, review it, and apply the changes to Shopify.
  5. View the live product page and confirm each H2 section becomes the expected tab or panel.

Listagrow does not install, configure, or style a third-party tab app. If the app is configured to split on another heading level, its display behavior controls the storefront result.

Set up native Theme Tabs

Choose Theme Tabs when you want Shopify-theme accordions rather than a third-party tab app. This mode needs one Custom Liquid placement in the active product template.

Before starting, select the sections you want Listagrow to write. The selected sections become the accordion headings after you apply a product to Shopify. A short introduction before the first section remains in the ordinary Shopify description area.

Check that your product template supports the setup

Theme Tabs is intended for a current Shopify product template that supports sections and blocks. In Shopify Admin, open Online Store → Themes → Customize, then open Products → Default product.

  • If you can add or rearrange sections on that template, it uses the modern theme architecture needed for the standard setup.
  • The exact block picker varies by theme and theme version. A Custom Liquid block might be available in Product information, or Custom Liquid might be available as a section below Product information.
  • If neither option is available, do not edit theme code blindly. Use One Block or a compatible Tab App, or ask the theme developer to add a compatible Custom Liquid placement.

Add the Custom Liquid placement

  1. Save Theme Tabs in Listagrow.
  2. Open Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes, then choose Customize for the published theme you want to update.
  3. Open a product template and navigate to the area containing the product description.
  4. In Product information, choose Add block → Custom Liquid when that option is available. Place it after the normal description block.
  5. If the Product information section does not offer Custom Liquid, choose Add section → Custom Liquid and place that section below Product information.
  6. Copy the universal snippet shown in Listagrow’s Theme Tabs setup panel, paste it into the Custom Liquid placement, and select Save.

The current Listagrow snippet is self-contained: it reads the product’s saved Listagrow tab data and displays native browser accordions without relying on a specific theme’s CSS classes. This is designed for current Online Store 2.0 and newer theme-block themes, including current Shopify Theme Store themes that offer a Custom Liquid placement.

Test the setup

  1. Generate or enrich one representative product.
  2. In Review Products, check the introduction and section content before applying it.
  3. Apply the product to Shopify.
  4. Open the product page in your storefront.
  5. Confirm that the introduction appears in the normal description area and the sections appear as accordions below it.

Test with a product that has at least one selected description section. A description with no generated H2 sections cannot produce accordion entries.

Avoid duplicate content on the product page

Do not keep two theme blocks that render the same description sections. If your product template already contains theme accordion blocks for features, care, specifications, or other description sections, remove or disable those blocks before using the Listagrow Custom Liquid block for the same information.

Otherwise, customers can see the same sections twice: once from the existing theme or tab app and again from Listagrow Theme Tabs.

Switch modes safely

Change the display mode before applying the next product update, then review a test product in the storefront.

  • To move from Theme Tabs to One Block or Tab App, remove the Listagrow Custom Liquid block from the product template first. Then save the new mode and reapply the product so Shopify receives the full normal description again.
  • To move from a Tab App to Theme Tabs, disable the third-party app’s description splitting for the product template before adding the Listagrow Custom Liquid block. Then save Theme Tabs and reapply a test product.
  • Existing products are not reformatted just by changing the setting. Apply or republish the products you want to update after saving the new mode.

If Theme Tabs are unavailable in your theme

Theme Tabs require a product template with a place for Custom Liquid. Older vintage themes, heavily customized templates, and some third-party themes can restrict the sections or blocks available on a product page.

If you cannot add Custom Liquid as either a Product information block or a section below Product information, choose One Block or a compatible Tab App instead. Contact support with your theme name, theme version, and a screenshot of the product-template block picker if you need help deciding which option fits your store.

After a theme update, check one product page to confirm the Custom Liquid placement remains present and the accordions still appear as expected.

When tabs do not appear

Check these items in order:

  1. Confirm Theme Tabs or Tab App is selected and saved in Listagrow.
  2. Confirm the product was generated or reapplied after you changed the mode.
  3. Confirm you selected at least one description section.
  4. For a tab app, confirm it splits on H2 headings.
  5. For Theme Tabs, confirm the Custom Liquid block or section is in the active product template, placed after Product information or the description, and saved.
  6. Check the storefront product page rather than only the Shopify product editor.
  7. Remove any duplicate theme or app blocks that render the same sections.
